Today was filled with paperwork. The sun’s rays creeped into my room and woke me up before my digital alarm. Makes me feel like I shouldn’t have wasted my funds on the electronic device
Breakfast was at 7 – eggs, toast, and a very shriveled up sausage. Kenyans are big on milked tea, so I had that as well.
We had our first workshop at 8am – I can hardly remember what it was but I think it was the welcome and the rules of being a PCT. We had interpreters that are not.. quite.. what I had in mind. They signed in Kenyan Sign Language all the way. While it helped launch my understanding of KSL, it didn’t do much beyond that. I comprehended about half of what was happening. Luckily, the other trainees are so nice that I was filled in.
I love the tea breaks. 10:30, we has one. More Kenyan tea with unprocessed milk FTW.
Ok I’m falling asleep right now so I’ll sum it all up quickly.
Typhus and Hepatitis A shots right after lunch. Malaria pills, medical kit, and mosquito net obtained. More paperwork and procedures until 4:30. A group of us went to walk off to a mall. Red soil here. Karl saw a monkey that was really a trash bag. Fishbowl environment partially in effect. Cars drive like they do England but they emit blackness – gross. Men with guns, eek. Walked back and had dinner – lentils, rice, soup, pasta, and a saladish. Went to room and now am under my mosquito net once again. Will sleep wonderfully. Good night.
